Ceramic Rings

Hi All,

I have a large chamber filled with ceramic rings (its the first chamber) - been reading some reviews on them & it seems most people recon to get rid of them (slowly each week).

What would you then replace them with in that chamber? (sure they also work to avoid micro-bubbles)

Any ideas / suggestions?

Filter floss on top, Chemi-Pure Elite and possibly carbon below that. Some run a mini-fuge in the first chamber as well.

I have them in both my tanks. I use them to start new tanks and i have never seen a cycle and ive started three. I also slowley add rock to my old tanks in the sump so that its cured when it goes into the new tank. but the cyinders cant hurt.

Still have about 50% of my ceramic rings & nitrates etc all look good (will keep an eye on it - thanks for all the input)
