cerith snails for algae on glass?

About 5 weeks ago, I set up a nano 16G tank and have been getting lots of green algae on sand and glass. No fish yet but I have a cleaner shrimp, hermit crabs, nassarius, turbo, margarita and mexican zebra snails. Hermits and nassarius took care of the algae on sand but the rest of the crew's not doing much to keep the glass clean. Contacted reefcleaners.org and cerith snails (both dwarf and florida) were highly recommended.

For those of you with experience with ceriths, will they be effective for glass? I thought they were better for little crevices.

Yes, they do clean up the glass pretty well. Nerites also work. My favorite is the banded trochus snail.

Ceriths are great for glass algae, as well as Nerites and Turbos! When ordering ceriths make sure you get the "stocky" species, others are very small and rather ineffective.

For algae on the glass, I'll take a Mag Float over any type of snail eight days a week. ;) If I had to chose though, I would go with either turbo or trochus snails before cerith snails.

Turbo or trochus. If they can't find it on the glass, they'll venture out and find it on the rocks.

my trochus are lawnmowers, they also have a taste for cyano-or mine do.
cerinths are ok, they do some work. mine seem to like laying eggs more than eating.
in general, i think a diverisity of snails are good
