Cerith Snails

Is there any one else that wants to go in on a group order? If not buzz I will go in with you. If that's ok. If we are able to get a group order it would be nice to get them in right before our meeting in Dec. What do you all think?

Yeah I should have my 240 up and running in a couple weeks...I am going to be purchasing a clean up crew for it. So, I'm not sure how many of each yet, but I would definitely be in on saving some money!!!! :-)

what would everyone suggest for a clean up crew for my 240? I'm thinking:

50 astrea,
50 cerith,
50 blueleg hermits,
3 emeralds,
1 cucumber,
1 serpent star,

or I may get the package #1?

What is your advice...?

thanx,

Jay

To bad they don't have nassarius vibex snails...I'm definitely adding those! They do a great job in my 90 gallon!

I think we should start a new thread for everyone to post what they might want to order and another thread for everyone to talk and ask questions about it. That way it would keep everything clean and organized.

I notice that they give discounts to clubs....Maybe we should start posting ideas of what we want and then contact them for a discount pricing so that we know how much things will cost!? JMO

fishfeeder -

Hermit crabs love to eat cerith snails. Even when there are a lot of shells to go around, they just go after cerith. Cerith must be really tasty.

As for the nassarius vibex, Florida Pets have them at a decent price:

Aquatic Island has great prices, but they seem to be out of everything right now.

Coral Reef Aquatics often have nassarius vibex, too. Their price is comparable if you take the S&H charges of online ordering into consideration.

Florida Pets is out of stock on alot of stuff including ceriths.I dont need any blue legs I need:
25 cerith
12 astrea
1 star or cucumber

I would gladly place the order but I don't think I will have the coin to front for the whole order soon enough to get them to the meeting. If someone else wants to thats great if not I will in a week or two.Im setting up a new tank right now and I need sand and the people at Lowe's know me by name. It's suckin up my play money.

Buzzzzzzzzzz!

So, I shouldn't get any cerith snails?

I wonder what they were thinking when they offered 100 cerith & 100 bluelegs together? :-)

Jay

I just wanted to point out that nassarius vibex is available from elsewhere if anyone has to have them. You don't need to change the source just for nassarius. They are available locally, too.

I like cerith. I don't have any hermits in my 120G. Hermits are fun to look at, but I think snails are better as clean up crew. That's just my opinion. YMMV.

I've got 10(dwarf) blue legs in my main tank.Their said not to be meat eaters BUT I have a few ceriths and I haven't seen them in a few days:eek: I'll keep a eye out for them and post an update.

Buzz!

I would like to get in on a group buy for snails. I will probably need anywhere from 25-50 Astreas and 25 or so ceriths.

I would like 12 astreae. Buzz wants 12 and fishfeeder wants 50. If two more people wants 12 astreae each, then we might as well go for 100 and bring the unit price down.

Mary is right. It's high time that we put our list together so we can maximize the saving to get the price down and to get the order here in time for the December meeting.

I see there is a logistics issue involved. twkenny and 6Speed are far away. Are you guys coming to our December meeting? If so, great. Otherwise, we have to meet somewhere to divide up the order. This group buy works the best if all purchasers are going to Harry's on 2nd.
