Cespitularia - Worm

It appears a worm has made a home within my Cespitularia and is slowing killing it. It is not visible within the coral, there was however a tract or tube leading to the coral from a nearby rock which has now fallen away.
Can anyone help with advice on what it may be and how or if it can be treated ?

Id say thats very unlikely to be the cause. If a worm is indeed in your cespitularia, it would be because is was already dying. They are scavengers that feed on carrion and dying flesh. Cespitularia is a delicate coral, what are your wates parameters, flow, lighting, filtration. Hows the rest of your tank doing?

Water quality is fairly good, carbonate hardness and calcium were down for a couple of weeks recently but are fine now. Balance of tank is healthy, only other possible cause that I can think of is a BTA has grown markedly above and is starting to shade it a little (I am planning on some additional lights).

I will check ph and alk. Cespitularia love both parameters on the high end. I will also place it far away from softies like leathers and mushrooms.

You didnt actually answer any of the questions. We cant give you answers without knowing your water parameters, lighting and flow.
