CF lights

I was browsing around on live aquaria and decided to check out the Anemones, when I noticed the long tentacle anemone only required medium light strength, which on the site is listed as 2-4 watts per gallon. The stock lights on the JBJ PC model total 105 watts for 3.75 watts per gallon. Based off of this, would I be able to keep one of these anemones for a pair of O. clowns to be hosted in, and could I also keep things like hammer corals and bubble corals?

Thanks,

John

I'm thinking you would considering your 3.75 watts per gallon is between the anemones requirements and your occys will probably jump right in the day you put it in :) hoped this helped at all

IMO, watts per gallon is pretty much useless when it comes to anemones. There are way too many variables left out -- the type of lighting, the reflectors, the color of the bulbs (( there is a huge difference between a "daylight" bulb and an actinic bulb )), the size/shape of the tank, etc.

So, I would not attempt an M. doreensis is that tank -- mainly because the anemone would be way too big for a 28 gallon tank, let alone not enough light.

Get rid of the cf lights and equip the tank with an led system or 150w mh light. I agree with Todd, do not try an LTA under cf lights, especially if this is your first anemone. I suggest starting with a nice bubble tipped anemone, once you upgrade your lighting.

BTA would be a better choice but theese can still quickly fill up a 28gal when they are 15" across.
