chaeto lighting questions

I picked up a clamp on light fixture from Office Depot just a bit ago. I did a little reading on the required lighting for chaeto. The lamp I got accepts 1 40w bulb or a CFL equivalent. The bulb I got is a 9watt CFL which is equal to 40watts of a standard light.

450 lumen output. Is this enough to keep the chaeto happy?

I use a 25 watt energy saver rated at 100 watts for 16 hours a day.
But experiment with yours and see.

you want it green to dark green with lots of bubbles over it when the light is on--this way you know it is photosynthesizing and uptaking nitrates and phosphates

Awesome. I'll keep an eye on it over the next few days. Seems as though I can see small bubbles on the inside of the mini fuge already.

I got mine at HomeDepot.....it's a 26W CFL with actual at 100W. Spectrum is about a 6000K if I remember right.

However......I have noticed that the chaeto under the light actually looks healthier with the light off. Cant say for sure why, still looking into it

how long are you running the light for? I found if I ran them 24/7 after a couple of months the chaeto started yellowing.
