Chaeto question

I recently found a store that sells chaeto. Anyway, I know it is a macroalgae and I know it will gobble up extra nutrients and phospates before nuisance algae gets to. This is why I got it. I have hair algae that will not budge and I am hoping that this chaeto will stop it. Right now it is a fist sized ball in my tank. I have a 14 gallon BioCube and it is sitting at the top of my live rock. I got a minijet to push water on it too. I might eventually put it in the back middle chamber and scratch a hole in the back covering and throw a light back there, but for now it will sit in the main tank.

So, now what? I mean, do I just let it do its thing or is there something else I should be doing for it. Any tips would be great!!

Does it really need the extra power head pushing water on it? I thought it needed the extra flow because it grows best tumbling rather than just sitting. Any thoughts on that?

Thanks!

cheto

I don't think cheto is a magic bullit for hair algae! I have a 30g sump full of cheto, and I am waging war with hair algae. I have ordered new lamps, bought a RO/DI unit, changing a lot of water feeding less and planing to add to the cleaning crew. I think cheto is good stuff, fast growing, and good for "pods" to eat and hide.

The full genus name is Chaetomorpha followed by the species name. To shorten the name: Chaeto.

I know it isn't a quick cure, but it might help. And I am open to anythying that might help get rid of the hair algae.

lawnmower blenny, got rid of all my hair algae, the problem is that when he ate all the hair algea, he didnt want to eat anything else, i tried to catch it so i can return it to the store, but couldnt, so it eventually just hid itself and died of starvation, sad story because it was my first fish, good luck
