Question: Should I have as much as I do? I got a small ball from The Fish Place when I set up my nano a few months ago. It doubles about every week. I have it in a modified InTank filter box with the 4 watt LED. So it gets good flow and good light 24x7. Water params are spot on and I have not had any nuisance algae. This is my first try with Chaeto and it is exceeding all expectations.

Believe it or not, rather than throw it out, I've been selling it on eBay $15 a ball.

I've never heard of chaeto growing that fast but good for you! It sounds like those LEDs you're using are perfect for it. What brand/spectrum are they?

The lights are basically the glass width away from the Chaeto and are pure white.

"Doubling" is somewhat relative. It goes from a tennis-ball size to two tennis balls in 7 to 10 days. Since it's in the media basket -- http://shop.mediabaskets.com/Nano-Cube-28-Media-Basket-NC28MR.htm -- all of the return water flows through it.

More nutrients and light will make it grow faster especially PO4. Mine wanes when PO4 runs under .04/.05ppm.. I don't think you can really have too much as a practical matter. Just keep harvesting.
