Chaeto

I noticed the other day when I pruned my Chaeto from my big tank the algae would sink to the bottom. It is low in my fuge and doesn't move much. It has not been growing much either.

Yesterday, I pruned the Cheato from my pico tank and it grows like a weed using a 50/50 and 10K PC bulb. I put it in the main tank and it floated high in the water column.

Do you think that my fuge Cheato is saturated with nutrients and that is why it is so heavy?

If any one has extra macro algae, bring it to the meeting, I could use some new Cheato to seed my fuge. I'd be willing to take some of Cliff's red stuff too.

Hey, Murf, how old is the bulb that you're growing your chaeto with? That usually happens to mine once I've run the bulb for about a year.

Definately check the bulb, mines doing great under cheapo home depot halogens beleive it or not. If need be though I can bring a bag of chaeto to the meeting as well as some caulerpa if you need.

I just changed out my bulb to the HD Lights of America and the caulerpa is going nuts with growth. Cheato is not.

When I do a WC I put my Cheato in a bucket of old water and shack it out to get all the junk out of it and most of the time it will start rolling in the tank after that
