Chaeto ?

How often do you prune your Chaeto and how do you actually do it. Mine is just a tangled blob and I have no idea where to start.
Also, what do you do about all the junk that ends up getting stuck in the Chaeto?!

When it gets to be a nice dense mat, just start pulling it apart. No need to be gentle about it either
