Chaetodon octofasciatus

Cantonesefish

with active cooling
Anyone have experience with these guys? Are the obligate corallivores, or semi-corallivores? ;) I've personally never seen them offered before.

From what I understand from reading up on Butterflies I'm thinking about adding to my tank, these guys feed exclusively on coral polyps... -Steve

Michael, how did you know? :D

Thanks for the response Steve. I just checked fishbase and it does say they feed exclusively on coral polyps. I seem to remember that these are able to adapt to aquarium life, and that they do better in pairs/groups... but I may be thinking of the Rainford's.

I am excited to see this pair of butterflies. I do hope they go to a more experience aquarist, are are put into a full blown reef tank not a bare bones FO.

Good thing I wasn't home otherwise I would have gone the 'buy first think later' route. :D

Very nice looking pair and GL to the person that bought it.

Yep, got 'em Ryan, can't believe I was fast enough!

Thanks for the GL wishes, I'll keep you guys updated on their progress! I've been waiting for something really special since my QT opened up...!

Those come in all the time at one LFS near me for under $20. I've never seen them eat in the store so I've never tried one, nor have I ever heard of one living past a month or so.

Good Luck with them..........keep us up updated.

Is it me, or do I only see seven stripes on each? Unless you count the margin on the posterior fins? :)

You should ask for a 1/8 refund!!!!
