Chalice bleaching..

Ive notice my chalice start to bleach after a week or so after purchasing it. Wondering if anyone can help, I have a few but only my miami hurricane seems to bleach the most, it doesnt seem like the others are. Anything I can do?

I have it under 16-18 inch away from my 4x 54 w t5s cal last checked was 400 alk 9 salinity 1.025 ph 8 temp 78-80..

Should I place it higher? Under a ledge? Flow is low to medium since the koralia 1250 is at the other end facing it (48"long).

Any suggestions ?

I've found that chalice corals don't need strong lighting. It might not be getting enough nutrients. Placing it higher would be a bad idea if its already starved. When you mention 'bleaching' do you mean that the skin is transparent, showing the white skeleton (as in no zooxanthellae) or the skin is actually receeding?

I have a few chalices and they all like to be lower mine are also shaded more of a indirect light. Give the coral time to adjust to your lights and system. I would personally start if off very low and possibly shaded and see how it reacts. If it starts to color up and adjusts to your lighting then moving it up small amounts at a time might be possible. You'll have to experiment once you get it back on track.

By bleaching I meant losing its color. It is as strong color as it was when I first had it. I usually feed everother night and sometimes target feed. Ill try to put in a bit shaded are to see how it reacts. Any idea how long I should leave it there for ?

Tank is a bit shallow so im thing the light because other than that I kno they are fed good and have good calcium and alk in the tank. I just cant figure it out.

bleaching would be that its turning white, if the color is fading you have too much light. put it in a spot where it just starts to shade it and let it heal back up. basiclly its a bad sun burn that will kill your coral if you let it keep on ...chalice are not high light by any means..
