Chalice Coral Damage

Best way to help chalice coral recover?

The flesh around the edges of the coral receded and has now stopped for over a month. I have seen little growth or recovery. Should I cut the skeleton off where the tissue has been lost or will it eventually grow back over top?

The coral is about 6" in diameter.

My AI Sol blue lighting system failed. (All boards and controller died at the same time...) This coral did not receive adequate light for ~1 to 2 months while resolving the lighting issue. AI did sell me replacement boards at a discount price and I changed the controller to an APEX.
