Chalice frag pulling back from edges -- an issue?

I got a 2 inch chalice frag about 2 weeks ago. I noticed today that the edges seem to have pulled back slightly from the frag edge exposing some calcium skeleton. The center part of the frag looks fine. Will this re-encrust, or is this the begining of the end? The frag is located at the bottom of the tank. I just moved it to a remote area of the tank today, has no competing corals there.

My water parameters. Ammonia 0, nitrate about 5 ppm, temp 78, ph 8, calcium 460, alk about 9, mg 1300. All other coral in the tank looks great, all polyps fully out on my GSP, frogspawn, hammer, Acans nice and puffy. There are two other chalices in the tank which look ok (I have less clues on how these guys are doing in general.

It is actually only one portion along one edge where there is a little skeleton exposure.

It's not uncommon and it can regrow as long as infection doesn't occur. Try lifting it up off the sand, if it already isn't. Elevated, flattish rocks tend to be the best location for them.

ive had several that didnt look to good---put it in area of less flow less light and leave alone and they can come back.

do a lugols iodine dip if you have it. then put in low light and low flow

I agree. Remember they like low light, low flow. I tend to place mine where the light angle is oblique rather than perpendicular.

Is a t5 with 10k wht ho and a purple 460/620 ho at 12 in deep to much for a miami hurricane
