hey everyone I'm have noticed that were i live chalices are all the new rage in the LFS i was just wondering what the growth pattern is on these types of coral, do they plate out like moni or do they encrust whatever is in there way

They're usually slow growers that encrust.

thanks, so im should put my new guys on a flat surface?

The bottom coral is not a chalice. If you keep them on a flat surface they will spread out quicker.
