Chalice growth

I've heard that chalices can grow very slow. But does anyone have an estimate as to how slow? How much they would grow in each year. I realize there are a lot of variable as well, but let's say under good to excellent conditions, what would be the expected growth rate?

I have a Hollywood stunner that has grown probably 3" in diameter in the 5 months ive had it. I've read they are some of the fastest growing chalices however so maybe a little less than that for others.

Some Grow Fast Like Hollywood Stunner.

Some Super Slow.

I had one that took 3 Years before there was any growth!!!!! No Joke.

Chalices are Considered the Slowest Growing Corals Out There.

If you want Growth Feed Them.

I cannot Stress that Enough.

I Target Feed My Chalices Reef Roids and LRS (Larry's Reef Services Frozen Food) 3 Times a Week.

The more expensive the chalice the slower it grows IME. I have a rainbow crush acquired the size of a dime. 4 years later it's only a little over 2" in diameter.

I second that! it also seems the smaller the frag the slower it grows. Was once told the reason for this is when small it only has 1 or 2 eyes/mouths. the more it grows the more it can eat so it grows faster... meaning it might grow slow for awhile but then oneday kinda take off. I have seem some in my tank seem to do this. I have a Miami hurricane that just seemed to stay small for over a year and now all of a sudden its taking off.

In my experience the thinner skeleton chalices grow much quicker than the thicker ones
