Chalice IDs

Did you buy these as the colony size shown in the pics or did you grow them out? I find it hard to believe that if the LFS knows what they are selling that they would sell such large colonies of a LE coral, but heck I could be wrong!

I grew them out some. The thing is that they were both pretty browned out in their tanks, and were browned out when they got them. Trust me, now that they have colored up they have been buying frags back off me and selling the frags for the same price they sold the colonies to me for.

I think it is absolutely ridiculous to worry or argue over whether or not a particular coral is from Steve Tyree or not. Just silly. Is it pretty? Is it healthy? Do you like it? Then who gives a crap if it a Steve Tyree coral. What? Is it a status thing, does it make you feel special when you tell other people you have a Steve Tyree 'watermelon hurricane alien bubblegum strawberry chalice'? Is it just me, or has this whole silly naming of chalices and acans and acroporas gotten completely out of control? It's like like all those stupid hippies that come up with ridiculous names for pot, "it's bubblegum, skunk, white widow, dude!". Don't get me wrong, both of those chalices are beautiful, but come on. Man I am glad that the guy I buy coral from has a conscience, and refuses to follow this trend. A frag of a chalice like that shouldn't be more that $30. Period.

Um, I was just looking for names so that when I sold them I could tell people what they were. People do like to know what they are buying. If you check in my sales thread I did not list them for sale as tyree chalices. I listed them as what they look like. The name tyree was nowhere in the sales thread until the second page when somebody else brought up lineage. I do not pay extra for named LE corals, and I dont sell them for extra. I priced my chalice frags at half what I have seen them sell for on this web site. Selling them for less than you can get for them is stupid.
