chalice in sand

I came home from work and part of my chalice was covered in sand. It's dead in that area now and I've moved it to the rocks. Will it continue to die off our will it come back. How do you all keep them on the sand bed without sand getting on them?

That has happened to me, and mine always came back. What covered it Fish? pistol shrimp? Too much flow?

I had one fall off a rock face-down in the sand, a corner receded but has since come back.

It was either flow or my starry blenny. He constantly picks up ad's drops sand
