Chalice Placement and Growth Question

I recently got this chalice and am trying to find the best placement for it's growth as well as my viewing pleasure. Right now it's mounted on a rock at about a 45 degree angle. I love the way it looks at this angle, but I'm wondering if keeping it angled like this long term would cause it to grow into a weird shape.

I want this chalice to continue with it's nice roundish, dinner plate style growth, is this placement ok or should a chalice like this be lying more like a plate facing straight up? Any advice is appreciated.

Here is a pic of how it's placed now:

I'd keep it just as it is. It will eventually grow down in "draping" type pattern, but keeping it up off the sand angled toward the front will show it off best.

Thanks for the reply, I'm trying to avoid any sort of "draping" growth or anything like that. Would you think maybe if I turned it about 1/4 turn every month it would make for more even growth?

Anyone else have any input? How does everyone mount their chalices here? I still have to find a spot for that frag on the sand bed too....

Mine is mounted much like yours. This is about a 3" piece and my hope when I chose that spot was for it to drape over the plug and down over the larger rock. So far it is doing exactly that.

Greech, that's a sweet chalice! Thanks for posting the pic, I had been hesitant to mount any of mine on rock that bumpy thinking it would impede the growth but yours seems to be doing great.

Thanks, I tilted it back a little more facing upwards. Will just keep an eye on it as it grows.

It's been a while, just wanted to update this thread with a pic of how I placed the chalice and it's growth. It's almost finished growing out a ring around the outside and it's looking happy and healthy!

Took this picture tonight for my Red Planet thread, figured I would put it here also as an update on the chalice growth. Comparing the pictures, it has turned quite a bit bluer compared to what it was. Partially because of the bulb changes I've made since the first shots, I'm sure.
