Chalice problems

I have a few chalices and I havent noticed any problems up to yet but I got up this morning and one of my best chalices has holes where 2 of the mouths used to be. Also one of the others looked like its peeling back from the edge or has a peice torn off.
I tested my water but nothing looks out of whack, is it likely something has taken a bite out of it? I have 2 peps and a sexy shrimp or might it be an unseen hitchhiker?
The only thing I have done in the last week was change to red sea Coral pro salt so Im not sure if its that?
Any suggestions?

Thanks, that should deffinately be a sticky.
By big 3 in the terms of that post I guess you mean Kh Ca and Mg?
Ill run some today and let you know.

Right, I tested and compared with the results I took on the 18th and things have started to slide:-

Ca 430 > 420
Kh 9.3 > 8.6

I didnt measure the Mg on saturday but today its 1230 which Im guessing is a bit low. I have started to supplement up slowly and hopefully I can keep chalice 2

I have also moved them away from the light and flow.
My pH is about 8 at lights on, is that high enough?

I don't know if I've ev er measured pH, just kh. As long as ca stays above 400 and alk above 6 I would think those tow are fine. The mg is a little low and the article says you can go higher than 1300. I don't know how high you want to go, but I don't think it's easily overdosed if you're worrying about it.

What light do you have and how far from the light is the chalice?

It was under a par 38 LED but directly in the light cone. In guessing it was a little bright, so have moved it. I am a bit puzzled though as to why they have been in the tank a month or two then both start to look bad on the same day?
the one I lost has gone from looking bad to being dead within 3 days.
Ill keep tweaking and hope it picks up

So Im raising the Mag and the recession seems to have slowed but not stopped.
Any more ideas?

What is your SG at, how are you testing it and have you checked it against a calibrated refractometer?

This was my problem long ago and fixing that while also bringing Mg up (probably low due to the lower SG I was running the tank at) stopped and reversed the receding.

Are the peppermints on them at all?

The SG was at 1.024 but Im guessing it has come up a bit because of the Mg supplementation. I have a refractometer that I calibrate with RO.
The as mentioned the recession has slowed but not stopped.
I havent seen the Peps on it.

A dip. I've read that if you do a dip it can often do wonders for LPS. I've never had luck saving coral iwth it but have read many others who swear by it.

well, you tried away from the light, try up toward the light. Not gonna hurt at this point.
