Chalice toxicity

I have a 2" diameter chalice sitting on a rock shelf about 3" below a 30+ head candy cane that is not doing well. Most other LPS in the tank are doing fine. Can the chalice be effecting the candy cane?

depending on what kind of chalice , they do have nightime feeder tentacles , some can be 6 inches long , some are very short , check it with a flashlight after lights after a few hours .

Well Echinophyllia can send out sweepers..is the affected area of the cc's in the area of the chalice or all over it? Pic might help too for reference.

I'm referring to the nematocyst tipped ones meant for deterring encroaching corals.
