Chalices and Acans

Would high magnesium say around 1600 cause acans and chalices to receed from the outside in then finally die but not effect sps? This all started around 6 months ago and I have lost colony after colony of acans then chalices. THe only parameter out of wack was the magnesium being too high. My sps are doing better then ever. I cant figure this one out and I'm thinking of throwing in the towel on LPS all together.

What are you running for filtration, many people start to run gfo, bio pellets and such and actually make the water too clean for LPS. SPS love the ultra low nutrient tanks but the LPS tend to starve with those conditions

I wouldn't have thought so seeing as many people bump Mag up to about 1800 in an effort to rid themselves of Bryopsis.

I'd say "too clean" water ( as mentioned above) is more likely the culprit.

That might be the problem. I run a BK 200, carbon and GFO. I've uped my feedings to help color up my SPS.

Never really spot fed them for years then I change out my rock and they all start dying. I think somethings eating them.
