Does the golden galaxy look like an area 51 chalice. The LED s are playing with my mind. Really pretty peice!

Yep, That is an awesome shot...but who really knows what I have on my hard drive ;)

Wow. What a small world! I'm new to the chalice realm and I had no idea that this species originated from you, Mark. Do you know anything about the location/conditions that it was collected at? It must be cool to see images of it from coming from all over...knowing that it originated from your tank.

It came in a multiple source transshipment, but talking with a friend who works at the shop, I believe it was one of their first aussie pieces.

It would be even more crazy if it looked like that in person, though. cool pic none the less, looks almost fake.

Just a lot of black, contrast and shifting of the shade tone. The newly formed eyes are always multicolored like that.

Mark, I look at that exact coral almost daily :D. It belongs to my good friend who lives just down the street from me. It is with out a doubt an awesome piece that gets better by the day. It is a very cool picture, I like the black shadowing affect.

I totally agree with this! Living around some knowledgeable reefers has really enriched this hobby for me.

Thanks for the origin info Mark. Interesting stuff..

Myzislow-- I think I know what you mean about not looking like it does in person. Because of the placement of this piece, the actinic really blasts the camera sensor. I had to remove a bunch of saturation and colors in order to get closer to a reasonable looking shot (although on some comp. screens it may look off- seeing as my monitor hasn't been calibrated recently). All the black was done by simply burning the small amount of background color that was on the original image (I think this helped keep the focal point strong).
