I'm going to agree w/ Hugo and say it appears to be Echinopora lamellosa, however, at the risk of sounding like a jerk, would like to ask that better care be taken when tossing species/latin names around like that.
For one, it's near impossible to ID a coral to the species level, unless you're a marine biologist and willing to invest several hours into looking at scraps of skeleton under a microscope.... No, I'm not one either, that's why I rarely call a coral by species name, unless I _am_ certain, and in which case, I take great care to use that part of our language properly. The Genus name should be capitalized, the species name should be lower case. This is 9th grade biology class we're talking about...
Secondly, it's been stated in this thread and many others, that it's slighlty confusing the way a handful of genus' are being called "Chalice" coral (note spelling, there's no 'S'). If it was all one genus, I'd be less aggrevated by the use of common names (e.g. "Monti's", "Acro's", etc.), but we're talking about Cyphastrea, Echinopora, Echinophyllia, Diplo's... how many other things have been shown in this thread? Christ, they're not even close to one another...
Sorry to sound like someone went wee-wee in my corn flakes, but this is really getting out of hand. There's as much mis- and myth- information floating around in the captions on some of these photograph's, it's no wonder newbies are so confused and come to the table knowing less and less each day. Wether we like it or not (or wether it's right, or not), the content generated here by us 'hobbiests' is used as a resource by other hobbiests across the world, and the information is taken as gospel. Yes, there's a lot of things wrong w/ the blind leading the dumb, but at the very least, lets not butcher everything. If you don't know how to use something, put it down. That goes for livestock, tools, and language.

steps down off soapbox and crawls back into bed. It's going to be a long day.

i didn't know proper grammer and nomenclature was needed to post when identifying species and genius. only thing mention was that this could possibly be a cyphastrea rather then a chalice.

ReeferMac, I believe a lot of the misidentified names were probably done very innocently. The folks Id'ing the coral might have truly thought those names were accurate. I'm sure they appreciate your helpfulness by guiding them properly. But to flame the entire masses like? I don't think anyone maliciously posted those names. JMO of course.

Hey guys and gals,
My 2 cents on the naming/ID deal.
#1- It's beutiful no matter what it turns out to be
#2- My first ID pic is Echinopora Lamellosa
#3- Runner up.Echinopora Pacificus
#4- Great find Hugo!
Doc
