Hey Doc,

I'm not sure that's an Echinopora, at least I don't think it is E. lamellosa. The coralites look rather large given that it is 8 to 9 inches in diameter. Nice piece none-the-less. Anyone else think it may be something different?

I talked to the lfs owner where I got the one that I posted earlier. He said that it was listed on his invoice as an Oxypora.

How often do challice type corals actually color up if they are drab or brown when they come in? All the others that I have had great color when I got them and kept the same color ever since. I passed one up a few months ago because it was dark brown because I wasn't really sure.

Thanks,
Scott

Ming at AtlantisAquarium told me most all of his come in dark and that part of the fun is seeing what you get as they color up..so I'm gathering that most all come in that way. Who knows for sure? Doc

Beside Randy does anyone have a challice (or challice and acan) tank? A full tank shor would be awsome :D

Here are a few pics of my echinoes-acans tank. These pics are around 6 months old though. It is an 80g (48 x 24 x 17) lagoonal tank.

Enjoy,

I have 2 Oxypora, 5 Echinopora, and 10 different Echinophyllia, but my tank doesn't even come close to Randy's. I've got a bunch of ugly SPS and fish in there as well. :) An Echinophyllia only tank would be pretty cool. Have the Echinos envelope all the rock work. How cool would that be?!?!?!

John I love your setup!!!:D You have some nice show pieces in there and I love the lagoon style tank, I need to invest in one of those.:D

My tank is all challice/acan tank. I tore it down, took all of the fish out, moved the rock, added southdown, and pushed it across the floor 6ft. Major pain in the @ but I am happy now. I will post a pic of the beast.

Can't wait to see the pics :)

Sweet tank John......I would love to see the one from JenDub as well.
I am asking cause my 30G's red bug problem...I figured if I can't keep Acro I will change it to something cooler....like challice :D

Here is a pic of the beast, I tried to get it all in the shot but couldn't. As you can see, I am running out of room. I am in the process of getting a larger tank soon. :)

Thanks everyone! The tank is much fuller now :D. I need to find some time to take a few update pics.

Rob, I have been busy so man...My tanks are lucky if they get feed once a week. I lost 2 frags of the lord due to my lack of attention to them. Didn't look at my tanks for 2 days and find out one of the echino fell on top of them.

Steve, I love to see pics of your echino colection budy.

Jen, Thanks. You have a killer tank yourself :)...Loved your new site too.

John

Looks good Jen! I'm thinking of dumping all of my SPS and going all out LPS!

John, sorry to hear about the Lord. Hopefully you had another frag of the same morph to grow out!

Hey Jen...
If overcrowding becomes too critical I would sacrifice to take some of the less desirables off your hands:bum: Remember I'm just overcoming the tank crash and have LOTS of room!!
Seriously the tank looks awesome as does your site. What are you using for lighting in the LPS only environment?
Thx,
Doc

Nice tanks! Echinos and Oxy's are addicting, I think there is something just cool and funky about them. Looks like they're becoming the next hot thing too.

Rob, don't do it man! The sticks will win you back after a while, my LPS tank now has a bunch of SPS frags in it. I forget who said that corals are like pokemon... you gotta catch em all!

Rob,

Listen to motha man :). I fell in love with echino and acans almost 2 years now but I still have the 180g full of SPS...:D

John

I have always had LPS for my 5+ years in SW. Just as of the past year or so I have gathered a few SPS but I still love DA LPS more. They never RTN over night on me ;)

Got this earlier in the week, came with a good bit of neucrosis, which has seemed to stabilize. About 1/3 of it looks like it will pull through.
