ok.....a new addition! My brand new "prism chalice" This is the piece before a guy in south florida split it for me! It didn't like getting fragged, so I'll wait a couple weeks for it to shape up before I snap pictures in my tank......it has another week in QT anyway.....
I'm not even sure exactly what it is......but it grows like a chalice, and the exposed skeleton where it was cut looks the same as other chalices I have.
I also picked up a couple chalices similar to the BGM, but blue based with the pink eyes, and bright red, with the same pink eyes......but this one is the stunner for sure!

and that picture is with no actinic! the thing looks almost just as good in the bag, under natural sunlight, as it did in his tank.
Under actinic, the green ring doesn't POP as much, so it actually looks best under the halides
The guy was calling it a PPE chalice, but I like prism chalice better because it reminds me of a cross between a prism favia and a chalice
if anyone knows for sure what kind of coral this is.....I'd love to know....but prism chalice works for me!

yes sir! but not to me. I drove to the guy's house for some other stuff, and came home with a pretty good sized piece of that also! He said it came in pretty ugly from his local fish store, but colored up to that after a couple months.
So of course I drove to all the stores around that I could find.....but I didn't see anything spectacular......but that guy has one HECK of a mixed reef tank!
He needs to get in this thread BAD! But if he doesn't.......I'll show you the kinda stuff he had pretty soon!

yeah? I was looking down at it in his garage under a single metal halide monday at about 2:45 pm
I don't remember seeing it on diamonds in the reef! I usually take a look every week! Surely I would have bought it! When I saw it on ebay, I took a 4 hour trip on monday to look at it in person!
I didn't see it on diamonds in the reef, but I saw it in his 265G perfecto display under LEDs, and the prop system under a single halide....to be honest...it looked BETTER under the halide.....and looks like the picture even under natural light!
