thanks.......next time you see THAT on diamonds in the reef LMK!!!!!

I'll break you off nice for the find! I offered the guy a TON for the colony, but he refused! I did score a decent sized frag though! so all is well! I post a picture of the little guy when he gets in the diplay and is a bit happier!

and is it a chalice at all? I thought it might be a favia from the picture. I don't know....I was a SPS guy until last year! this thread has cost me a TON of money!

thanks guys!

I was thinking that it looked like pics of some cyphastra (sp?) that I've seen when I first saw it on Ebay.

Yikes man, you need to share that buddy. I have never seen anything that even approaches that for crazy color.

Does it eat for you?

it looks to me a montastrea annuligera.. look at julian sprungs coral quick reference book on page 105;) and that piece did come from diamondinthereef.com for little less then 300

When I recieved that piece I thought it might be a chalice as well. Prism Chalice is a good name but I actually was thinking it might be an echinata as well. It was very tough to tell. Good to see it doing well for you.

Something doesn't make sense here, can anyone explain to me how a coral came from 3 different places(1. local fish store 2. eBay 3. diamonds in the reef) in the picture Juice is using the one from eBay or the one from diamonds in the reef?

the same person selling the piece on ebay had a piece he was calling 'bubblegum monster'. I asked if it had lineage to your piece and he responded that it came in around the same time as yours(WWC) but he had no direct lineage to your piece... If I remember correctly, he was also located in Florida...

yeah I know, the coral sold for $150 and it has nothing to do with my mother colony, the guy is using the word Bubblegum monster just to get more money,no biggie to me;) it just sucks to the people they think they are getting the real deal.

the guy had a ton of chalices.....and a TON of acans......a couple you guys might want to check out. That was the picture that he sent me......and since the thing was sitting on eggcrate, and under a single 250 or 400 watt halide....I assumed it was a picture of it in his prop tank. He said that they were all pics from his camera phone.....and that was one of 5 that he sent me before I drove down.

Great thread guys!! Just thought i would share my Chalices, this is an old picture, they are a lot bigger nowadays. When i upgraded tanks i just never got around to moving them, now they are totally fused.

The ebay seller previously mentioned stated that the pix in his auctions were taken from his cell phone...

Dude on ebay sounds kinda shady........

I remember seeing that chalice as well, I bid on it, but was no where near the final winning bid.

So the bubblegum monster he was selling wasn't even it? Thats weak.

I believe I have something similar, more or less. Mine never showed the blue background like his piece under 150W, but I'm guessing it could be brought out. I was never able to properly ID it, but it was sold to me as a favia... Here's an old pic of it.
