I moved mine into a darker area and it is getting its red color back, and for the first time in over 18 months, there is a touch green developing. What do you all think of this chalice, I have had it for almost 2 years now.

I posted a pic above of a red and orange chalice, and have not heard one way or another on it. Are they very common, or just boring to people. I was thinking about fragging it, but only if there would be interest from others, otherwise no sense in cutting it. I have had it for almost two years, and have never fragged it.

muzz,
no it isnt supercommon, it just looks like it hasnt reached its full potential, but maybe it has.... it is pretty, but with all the NEON colored ones showing up in the hobby now, the ones that arent neon colored seem to get passed by. I personally like it, i think it just needs to be moved around to find the sweet spot.... i have one that is highlighter pink with blue striations that took me 2 years to start showing the pinks, and i actually almost lost it, it was solid brown and then went to an auburn color and stayed like that tipp i moved it around, now i am blasting it about half way up my tank under a 400 watt 20k radium.....

Ian,
How many pm's did you get about the "Monster Mash?" I bet your mailbox is full lol..glad to see that a few people have it now and can finally get it in circulation within the next few years! Everything looks sweet Bro!

Okay, first of all this image is property of juicycorals.com so I want to make that clear and if they don't like me using their photo please pm me and let me know. Also, I am not trying to hype this coral, I am merely excited to stumble upon it and show it to everybody just becasue I am psyched! I think it is a beautiful piece and this is the first time I have ever seen it....

Does this piece "JC LE Ancient Earth Enchino" look like the same species as the Monster Mash? it looks like another morph of the Monster Mash if you ask me, pretty sweet too!

See what you are talking about Kev but I think it is a different species. The Ancient Earth echino looks to be of the same species as the Superman and Burning Embers chalices to me, just different color scheme. But then again...

look at the nodules they appear very similar, I have seen the mother colonies of the Burning Embers and the NY Superman up close and the nodules on those pieces are tiny and small, these appear more robust and larger. I see what you are saying but the first thing to pop into my head was the Monster Mash, I'm no marine biologist, just a coral junky, so take my opinion for what it's worth! :D that and a quarter won't even buy you a candy bar!

Kevin, it sure does look similar..interesting to note the deeper icolored inner rim on both.

Junior that first one looks very similar to one I have but mine has a greener base...going steel blue in sime areas. i was hoping it would turn the blue of yours...maybe it will in time. Super sweet piece.

Ian, Lucky dog on that Monster Mash baby, very nice...

Shane, I am with ya, many of us have been trying to track down the Monster Mash for years now. I know of 5 or 6 people now that have frags...hopefully in a year or so that number can double :D and we will be part of that list, lol.

Those two are different for sure. The yellow on the MM are the mouth and the green on the other is on the protrusion. The Ancient Earth piece looks be be a lot similar to the many other chalice coming in.
