bottom of tank in most cases, they are moderate/low light corals, although certain pieces love to get blasted with light

Depends. None of mine are on the floor, my tank is too tall and narrow to make that practical. So all mine are glued to rocks. Some, like the Mummy Eye, need to be COMPLETELY hidden in the shade to stay green. My pink boobies needs bright light, otherwise it turns red, with green background :crazy: My orange sherbert only turned more orange with more light, as well.
