tyree auction at mars..........

we had our 2nd annual tyree auction, lots of nice chalices,i picked up a bazooka joe, emerald mummy eye,og mummy eye, yellow eye guy chalice, off the latter chalice, ingerphyllia chalice(last three were named by lfs)averaged out at 100.00ea,i think i scored due to the last 3 being in a chlice pack and i went in with another member, but those are small colonies, the first one has 5 colors,7 eyes, second looks like the area51,third looks orangee/yellow several eyes, emerald has 2 eyes,og has 2 eyes, will try and get someone to take pictures to post, now i have 13 chalice, mike

Finally got an oldy but goody to add to my collection. Wanted this guy for sometime, Tyree's E. Aspera, hand delivered by S. Tyree himself:cool:

Oh I'm not suggesting they are the same ;)

I know that was not your intention Peter. The aspera is more yellow out of the three. The biggest difference between the sherbert and peach astro is that they seem to have different colored eyes. Alicia could probably provide more details as she has the original astro colony.

I just received a peach astro frag from Alicia. It has more pastel pink bumps, on a purple? background. The OS I have is a green background with yellow/orange bumps. I don't own the aspera, so was just curious....

My Aspera has a lot of green/yellow to the body and the eyes are very subdued pinkish/orange color. It grows in a totaly different pattern that the OS and my Peach Astro. It is more UFO shaped with a smoother body and very circular pattern. The Peach Astro is a bumpy, nodulating growth pattern. I get all sorts of colors out of my Peach Astro, purple/blue rim with orangy/pinkish/yellowis bumps all over it. The pink eyes are blended in rather well in the bumps. The Orange Sherbert is a similar nodulating/bumpy body but not nearly as pronounced as the Peach Astro. It has deeper colors and can get that sweet greenish body with yelow/orange bumps with super bright orange/pinkeyes if you put it in the shade like Stacy did. I got it to go that color as well and it is really nice. I picked up a frag of the Peach Astro from James at Aquascene 3 1/2 years ago when I picked up a frag of the Aquascene Golden Eye. It was sitting in the back of the tank as a full colony kind of hidden and no one had noticed it.I was the first to get a piece of it. It started out much more uniform ornagy/pink base color with pink eyes, but over the years in my tank it has morphed into a very cool mixture of base colors. All very different colors and growth patterns. Side by side they are super different.
