So in my exploring i came upon a new fish store.
In one of the tanks in the back of the store was a chambered nautilus! I have never seen one for sale and was confused because i thought they were cold and deep water creatures
he looked fairly healthy and they were asking $120 for him
if I had that much in my account i probably would have bought him.
anyone had any experience with cephalopods of this sort?

I know they have pin-hole style eyes which means they need to be kept in very dark environments.

It sounds like another iresponsible store bringing in species that shouldnt be brought in. Just because you can get it and that it fits in your aquarium in no way means that you should.

Agreed. These animals normally live at great depth. They are captured by trapping them with chicken bones.

I believe they come up to reef depths at night to feed but descend very deep during daylight hours. They really wouldn't adjust well to an enclosure with walls as they move around backwards rather quickly.

They show up once in a while. The last time I saw them on sale in a LFS was about 10yrs ago. And this was in several LFS. I do agree, they should not be sold for the hobby since they are difficult to keep as well as other marine animals. I remeber seeing a Blue Ring octopus in a LFS. They can kill a person in 10 minutes.
