Chances of eradicating AEFW

What are the chances of eradicating AEFW if you don't have a QT? I recently noticed loss of PE on my Red Planet so I decided to baste it, and low and behold FW's came off it.

I dipped it last night in Revive for 5 minutes and didn't really see anything come off it, but today I basted it again, and 6 FW's came off of it.

I have a nano, and only have 5 acros, 2 of which are decent sizes. Most are encrusted on the rock, I could break them off and superglue and puddy the encrusted areas, will that work? I will then put my frag rack in my tank, and just dip them 2x a week. Does this seem plausible?

What gets me, is that I haven't added an acro in a long time, what else do these come on? Thanks.
 
I dont have a QT. I've eradicated mine. Just takes diligence and patience. Dip every week for 6 weeks even if you dont see anything come off. And DONT use Revive. I was using Coral RX and ran out...switched to Revive for one week while the other stuff was shipping and killed a third of my SPS. That stuff is brutal on corals!

I suggest buying the pro version of Coral RX and using it throughout. Its gonna cost you some money...but now is not the time to get cheap. Just get through it.

Now that mine are gone my corals look AWESOME. I had no idea all this time that my SPS looked like hell simply because of flat worms. But man what a difference. And they came back pretty quick after all the dips.

Keep in mind they are going to look rough while you're dipping. May even lose some pieces. Just keep moving and it will all be over.
 
I bought revive because I heard Coral Rx was more harsh on corals. My RP came back out right away after the dip. Good to hear someone else got rid of them without QT. Thanks.
 
Dipped tons of times with revive and never had any problems, unless they were left in it too long. Heard echinatas don't do well with it but mine did okay. Shouldn't be to hard for you to rid them, just stay on top of the dips, your lucky you only have a few acros.
 
No problem with revive. for deepwater acros i usually dip them for 5-7 min ..others for 10 min.. never had any problems
 
If you want to remove the flat worms from the SPS, put them in a QT and treat them. Don't forget to feed the flat worms in the DT or they'll die!
 
After spending a year dipping every week I gave up. They would seem to be gone and then they would pop up again. I finally cut just the tip of everything. Tossed the rest of the coral and treated the 1/2 frag and started over. Finally they are gone! Good luck those things suck!

Just out of curiosity have to treated for red bug within the last year?
 
I have never treated for red bugs. I first lost color on my valida, and after hours of countless staring I saw a 1/4" fw chilling on it. I broke the frag off and superglued the encrusted area and puttied over it.

I have no qt and don't plan on setting one up, i'll toss the pieces before I do that. After 2 dips though, my RP is having better PE. Another really affected piece was my blue tip, after looking at it through a magnifying glass, you could see all the bite marks.

I didn't see any eggs anywhere though. I figure I will dip 2x a week for 6 weeks and see how it looks. Hope for the best, and if all doesn't go well, hey I get to get some new pieces in a couple months.
 
What kind of fish do you have. I know it won't completely eradicate them but will help in your fight.
 
Black Ocellaris, YWG, orange lined cardinalfish, and a Royal Gramma. I basted the corals many times and FW's would come off the RP and the fish didn't really seem interested.

Thanks, I was just wondering. Seems many people are getting AEFW after they treat for bugs. I assume the bugs are keeping the FW at bay. They for sure don't attack every SPS just some. I hope you have better luck then I. I thought I had them gone 3 times. When they came back the fourth time I just could not take it any longer. The good news is the frags I took off before I pitched the rest are free and clear now a year later. Not gona lie though it was really hard to throw out 14 colonies that were dinner plate size.

Wow, I believe that would be very hard to do. 2 of my colonies are fist sizes, looks huge in a nano. Thanks, I hope it works too.
