change in skimmer performance

Is there any kind of maintenance I should do to my skimmer? For whatever reason I noticed that it is releasing a ton of microbubbles into my sump, and many are making it into my DT. There is a bubble plate at the bottom of the skimmer that when I first bought it I could see the bubbles "thrusting" upwards through the plate. The very bottom of the skimmer didnt have any bubbles at all. Now I dont see that "thrusting" and the entire skimmer is full of microbubbles.

I did take out the pump today and gave it a quick cleaning, nothing changed.

It looked like this

Hi,

You do need to do maintenance on the pump every once in a while. You will have to determine the frequency, I would start with every six months and take it from there. Also clean out the venturi hole and the rest of the skimmer body as needed. Hope this helps.

clean out the venturi hole...this is common in skimmers to have a little build up inside the venturi to limit, no matter how little, the air intake and cause bubbles released into the sump
