Changing salt brands?

Mix slowly - different brands have different levels of alkalinity and other trace elements

If the 2 mixes are similar in their parameters or you just have a fish only tank you can switch quickly..
And even if they arent the similar smaller water changes wont change parameters that quickly anyways...
Unless you are doing 50%+ water changes and the parameters are quite different you shouldnt have any real issues switching right away

Do some basic tests and jot down the results now. Then keep doing it, and see if there is a marked change.

No reason to over think it. A 10% water change with a new salt isn't going to hurt anything.

The only real concern is that you maintain the same SG. Try to find a salt mix that closely matches the parameters you want for CA, MAG and Alk.

What are you changing brands?

Here is a guide to some different salt mixes.

this has always been my tactic. heck i'll even go higher like 20%.

just make sure you're matching salinity as normal, and step up your testing frequency a bit to make sure you're monitoring any changes that may require adjustments to dosing.

So if you buy a coral and they have different salt brand you won't be able to put in your coral until you mix everything [emoji23][emoji23][emoji2359][emoji2371]

Agree even up to 20 or more%. Every water change is a chemistry adjustment. Whether it's with the same salt or different salt. Never ever agreed with the tactic of slow manipulation of salt brands
