Changing sand? (black)

I'm thinking of going to black sand. The sand that is in my 12g was in my old 55 so it's about 3 yrs old. (only been in the nano for about 7-8 monthes). Anyone ever done this? Is this a good thing since my sand now is very beneficial? Or is this gonna be a nightmare?

I thought if you disturbed the sandbed to much it would lead to a system crash. Might want to ask around and see if that's the case.

if you have had good clean sand in the past in the tank i don't see why it would be bd to change just makesure you get as much white sand out as possible

I chose Indo-pacific sand that was white sand with chunks of black sand in it... it is quite nice looking and you can't see detritus on it as easily. Plus coralline has started to grow on the black chunks, so they have purple tint to them. Kind of neat looking.

plenty of people use black sand. run a search for "bsb". it does make your coral 'POP' with the contrasting back ground.
i am still highly considering it. but i am still building my nano system. have all the pieces, just not the sand bed yet...it sure does look tempting though..
