Changing Tank

I currently have a 75 gal tank with live sand and live rock. The tank is 1 year old and seems to be very stable (i.e. corals growing nicely, fish doing well, etc). I am going to change my tank out to a three sided tank for a better viewing position in the house. My question is how to do this. I am thinking that I will put in a new sand bed (but not live sand) and simply place the live rock into the new tank using half of my existing water and half new. Is there a problem with this thought process? Will the lack of live sand in the new tank throw my water chemistry off? Please let me know how to go about this.

How big are you going to go. Use as much of the water as possible. Use a little live sand to seed you new stuff. Just go slow and aquascape accordingly

Same size just three sided...will the live sand cause a spike in water chemistry?
