I've got a 29 biocube. How many LEDs do you recommend? And which drivers ?

For my 24G nano, I'm going to run 10 white, 8 blue, 2 red, and I'm going to play with some UV LEDS.

I won't recommend the UVs as I've never used them, but I'll let everyone know how it turns out. Also, I'm going to experiment with 60 degree optics, but I think it may be overkill in a tank that small.

Driverwise, you can get away with 2 of the $17 drivers in this GB, or you can source a couple of meanwell ELN-60-48Ds (about $34 each) or Inventronics 700mA, 40w dimmable drivers (about $32 each). I like the meanwells, but I have a controller. Without a controller, the Inventronics are a lot easier to dim.

So, let me know if you want in. Shipping is $10/person, and that's 3-5 day DHL express. Also, here's the current price list for all this stuff. It's been adjusted for bulb pricing, and I'm also sourcing some C channel aluminum local (1"x1" and 1"x1/2", priced by the foot). Thanks! -James

I have also seen some do 36 LEDs. I guess if you do too many then you just dim them to where you like them.

No, you need the ALC. It has the 0-10VDC output you'll need for dimming.

Here ya go 4tangs. Sorry about the confusion. I uploaded what I figured was the bare minimum to run a 120G with. Here's what I'd run. It's 198 LEDS, 9 rows of 22.

Yep. Make sure the Meanwell drivers are the "D" models (Such as ELN-30-48D), not the "P". That differentiates how the dimmers work.

As requested, here's a quick LED layout for 19.5" x 19.5" tank. It's 24 LEDs total.

There's a few people who are hesistant to take part in the group buy due to concerns with their own DIY ability. So, if you are concerned I'd be willing to do the fabrication and assembly for $50 for any size fixture. It's pretty time consuming, so does that seem fair?

I'd like to see as many people as possible get in on this group buy, even if it means giving up a bit of my time to help out some local reefers.

Thanks for doing this. It'll be cool to see some of the final builds from all of this. My drivers came yesterday, rest of supplies from rapidled should be coming Monday, and I found my old soldering iron. I'll be ready to go.
