So I have an AI SOL Blue and think its time to get something with more color spectrum. The cheap ones seem to be good. Reviews are good. What do you guys think? Don't need to make a $100 mistake

I have not dove into the new Radion G4 Pros but have seen many good things. Also the GHL X7 look great. If I am going to by high end LED that's where I would look. If going cheap LED look at the SB reef or similar with lots of blue/uv/teal LEDs.

For now I like my MH with DIY LED combo.

most of the led units, chinese, offbrand, or 700 a unit will grow good coral to varying degrees, the biggest thing you cant get with offbrand right now are the new lenses a couple companies are using which diffuse the light better.

It comes down to the features you want, how many color channels, built in timer or full programmable, wifi/bluetooth? led makeup(#'s of different spectrums) and layout.

in my experience everything grows good under a standard chinese box with manual timers in the shallow frag tank, and reefbreeder style lights with built in timers have made the display look great and coral, mainly sps, has responded very well to the change from a heavy t5/led hybrid setup.

So there is a group on Facebook called Reef Republik with owner Jay Moran in Cali. He makes LEDS that look similar to the Chinese but has WiFi management and he claims better growth than radion. I was considering these until I fold a pair of used Gen3s. Might be a lower cost full spectrum alternative. I think they were 175 each module
