Cheap sand bed?????

I can give you a SKU no problem i just brought a bag home. It turns out this stuff isnt sugar sized like i thought. its more like flour with some sugar sized grains mixed in. :( on a good note it was less than what the sign said so i only wasted $5. the bags had sugar sized grains allover them, so i figured what was in the bag was the same stuff, i guess the small stuff blew away. turds! sorry guys.

edit:well i decided to mix a couple cups in some tap water just to see how muc would dissolve. The water of course turned really milky white but much of this stuff was still on the bottom. maybe with a little luck it'll still be useful with some heavy washing.

that stuff is a buck a pound! i can get argonite sand from my LFS for half that!

BTW That other stuff i posted might be alright. After putting some in a bucket of water and stirring it up and doing waterchanges on the bucket I can get it to be more like sand and less like confectioners sugar but its quite a lot of work for just a few lbs of sand.

oh i see... the quantity of 8 is actually 16 20lb bags but i guess that is still not enough. I found this stuff at a few places for cheap. lemme see if i can get some more links


turds, i just realized something, they didn't specify the color of this stuff and it comes in all sorts of goofy colors like aztec gold or whatever. I really hope its white like in the picture.
 
will do.. i'm trying to call thier customer service line but when i press 2 to ask questions about a product it says that there is no one available at that extension :confused: so i declined to leave a voicemail and hung up LMAO I guess I have to just cross my fingers.

WOW!! talk about spinning the color wheel. I wounder what yellow or green or that god awful pinky/purple would look like in a tank.:lol:
 
i know man!! dammit imagine if all the bags show up different colors??!? damn self, why didn't you think of that first? :mad: and this place has garbage CS you cant get a person on the phone no matter what you do. I'm gonna be highly irritated and agitated and probably break something inexpensive if i cant use this stuff cause that means now i wasted $50 total trying to find a 'cheap' sand bed.
 
This might help some of you guys out, but here in the Northeast, most Kmarts carry the Kolorscape white play sand in their garden centers. You can try them and if you strike out there start calling your mom and pop garden centers and even better your larger landscape and lanscape supply companies and ask if they sell white sand or crushed limestone as they use it alot for paver projects. Hope this helps.
