cheapest camera for a newb???

I use a Sony a200 DSLR. It came with an 18mm - 70mm lens. Also picked up a used 70mm - 300mm lens on the internet for less than $100. I have found that if you shot in vivid mode and adjust the exposure level you can get the color exactly how your tank looks. We bought our camera at Walmart on clearance for less than $400.

I take pictures with a kodak z712 IS It was cheap from ebay (under 200$) a year or two ago. And allows for plenty of adjustments to shoot in manual mode and get clear good looking pictures. Might check them out. wont do macro's but its nice anyhow

I have that camera... I hate it.. lol..

but to each his own.. as far as everyday picture taking it's fine.. it just has it's limitations you know? But like you said, it's cheap.. what do you want for under 200 bucks?

If anyone wants one i'll sell you mine =)

Im right there with you, kinda hard to justify spending over $500 for a camera just to take some nice tank shots...but if anyone has a good camera around $500 they could recomend im all ears

Easy. Go to B&H, Adorama, or KEH and look for used D40 or D70s and kit lens.. these go for around $350. Use the $150 for a decent tripod and you're set.
