If you are using that much, you may want to look at pond foam. I found it to be better/stronger for bigger jobs- but you have to bond outside of the tank and let cure.
Keep in mind that there are many "drinking water safe" products we would not want in our aquariums (copper, for one). I'd be the most comfortable checking the manufacturer's website and looking for an MSDS, which will usually tell you what is in the product. A few years ago I was looking for hardware-store epoxy putty to use in a tank, and I was surprised to find that some brands listed various metal fillers in their products.
Or just stick to products marketed for the hobby, or known-safe, I guess.
That sounds like a valid point. Here is a link to the MSDS for Aquamend. I don't see anything in there that leaps out at me, but how about anyone who's interested take a look at it too.
