Check out my new flame angel

To answer your question as to what 'looks' wrong... the tail looks beat up / torn... and a super pale fish could be indicative of a disease. You've already thrown this Angel into your DT so best of luck.

The first picture looked rough (fins particularly - should be clean/clear, not cloudy/blotchy) but the second picture looks better. Something about the coloration just looks like poor health/care/nutrition instead of naturally occurring, but I could be wrong. I've seen other fish look similar under poor husbandry conditions.

Keep us updated because it is definitely interesting.

I actually think this might be a Hypomelanistic solar flare angel that I recall seeing some years ago. Still looks a tad pale (though hypomelanistic Angels lack pigments, so may be normal for this one). You could try some foods with beta carotenes in them to see if color can be restored. So, perhaps a few jumped assumptions :) Nice score indeed if it is a solar flare.

Here's one that is healthy, the op's is melanistic yes but most certainly shouldn't be that pale almost bleached looking as well as the fin issues. It's sick and needs treatment
