Check out what my friend caught diving the other day

Gorgeous specimen. Perfect health. Should be no regs on it since invasive right?

At one time that Hillsboro inlet was full of purple tangs, yellow tangs and longnosed butterflies. Were probably dumped by some wholesaler for whatever reason. Some may have bred.

Beautiful fish. Had no idea they were invasive.

Renee- We've heard of them being around for a while now. If I'm not mistaken the moment they are found out of their natural range they are considered invasive, in the sense they are invading other territories.

I ight be wrong though. Some better informed person here can comment.

About 10 years ago, I caught a dozen clownfish in the Hillsboro inlet

Off Tampa Bay you can catch all the lionfish you want while diving they are everywhere!

Lions are everywhere around Florida. My same buddy that caught the purple tang, had caught a semilavartus butterfly a while back as well. There is a website that shows some of the invasive fish that have been caught along with photos of them on the reef. They showed a big Emperor Angelfish. I'll have to find the site. Standbye
