Well it is time to check those heaters!!
We have "FREEZE WARNINGS" out for tomorrow night with temps expceted in the "20's".!!!

While you are at it you might want to check and replace Heater filters in your house as well. Since you have neglected those household duties doing all that aquarium maintenance!!

One excuse for replacing the filters before you turn that heater on in the house tonight is you do not want all that "crap" the heater would blow out into the air, getting into your fish tank.

Anyone replacing a heater, I would truly like to recommend the hydor ETH "In Line" external heater.

I won one at the recent meeting "Donated by Dave at Kermits reef" and have been shocked at how well it seems to perform.

I had a heater in my sump and in my main tank and could not keep my water temp from fluctuating about 3.5 to 4 degrees a day. (We do keep temp extremes in the house) I know that is normal but I was not satisfied, I felt it should do better. Since I have installed that heater we have been shocked. My temps are fluctuating less than .5 degrees. !!!:D

I am both shocked and pleased as to how well it is performing, I would have never even considered an in line befor this and would not have purchased one if I had not won this one, but I am very pleased and would recommend it at this time!!

Oh and get those outside plants in that you want to save as well!!!

i'm planning on putting an in line heater on my seahorse setup. i hope it will keep the temp in my tank as tight as yours is.
right now with a drop in heater it varies from 2-3 degrees. not to bad but i'd rather it be a bit more stable...

I

I have been looking at heater reviews after my highly rated stealth shifted its temp on me. It was set to 78 and stayed rock steady, then months later out of the blue it went to a rock steady 72. The one in my freshwater tank did the same thing in less than a year. It went from 76 to a constant 70. Though I have adjusted both of them and they are keeping a constant temp now, I no longer trust them. I was looking at the inline you have, the Azoo titanium, Rena SmartHeater, and the Jager. Thanks for the input, I may end up with two of those also.

I would use a industrial temperature controller like the Ranco type. IMO it is the most simple yet reliable controller out there.

How would the reefkeeper 2 compare to the Ranco? If I get a controller, I would want it to do more.
