Check valve for Osmolator/Kalk Dispenser

Roger,

Does the Osmolator/Kalk dispenser require a specific check valve? I've had to replace the original due it getting gunked up with kalk, and have unsuccessfully tried 3 different manufacturer's check valves.

The last one I tried was muanfactuered by Elite, and it looks just like the origainal. I can blow air thru it fine, but when hooked to the pump, the valve slams shut.

Is it possible the pump is bad? If not, how can I get a check valve that will work?

Thanks,

Paul

I have had better luck with the duck billed type. I am currently using a Tetra. The Elite spring type back-siphoned. Make sure you have it zip tied above the unit as illustrated in the instructions.

Also be sure that the hose is not touching the tank and back siphoning. Are you sure it isn't in backwards? That is the only reason I can think of that the pump would shut it.

I took it all apart, cleaned everything and used a new pump and check valve. Also, I plumbed it exactly like the picture, with the line between the pump and the kalk reactor looping up above the water line. Also, I set the transformer back to 9 volt.

Seems to working right now... without kalk in the container. I'm going to wait a day or two before I add that again.

Thanks for your help.

Paul
