Is it true these fish will fight each other? Is it possible to keep them in one 240 gallons community tank? I have 1 chelmon since 3 months and i am taking into consideration joining forcipiger...?

I've kept both in my 270 gallon tank for over a year with virtually no issues. In fact I think the Copperband learned more quickly how to eat from my feeder by watching the Longnose Butterfly.

Here's a couple of pics from right after I added the Copperband. He's actually grown faster than the YLN over the last year.

your longnose is wonderfully fat! it's difficult to get them to such wholesome qualities due to their slow feeding.

your feeder is certainly a good invention! lets it eat at it's own pace

Erich - Over the last year they almost seem oblivious to each other except for occassional impatience at the feeder. Good to hear your Copperband is doing well. Keep us updated if you try and add a LNB. Two of my absolute favorite fish.

Lemon - Thanks, I'm happy with how well both butterfly's seem to be flourishing. I do feel like the feeder helps them eat in a more natural manner and ensures they get their fair share of food.

McCool - In the feeder I rotate shavings of frozen scallops, clam, chunks of frozen shrimp from the grocery store, ON Formula cubes, Rod's Frozen food and frozen mysis. I've got a very fat and hungry blonde naso tang that has figured out that if she smacks the feeder tube she can steal most of the mysis and Rod's food so I try and combine those with the larger foods that only the two BF's can pick out.

Aquaph8 - The feeder is pretty simple really. I just cut some acrylic tubing and drilled a few small holes so the butterflys could reach in and pluck out food. I noticed that someone on the Copperband primer thread has made something similar with pvc and I'm sure that would work well too. I'll try and take a better closeup picture for you, I've got a version that doesn't look quite so cobbled together.
