Chevron food

It's day 2 and she's in quarantine. Those of you who have kept them- what did you feed, and how long has it lived it captivity? Thanks, Dawn.

She's not eating the nori on the clip- any other ideas? She is picking a little at two small rocks I put in the Q.tank from the reef. Thanks, Dawn.

keep trying to offer nori, IMO its one of the best and cheapest foods for tangs.....it took my two tangs about a week before they developed a taste for it.

Chevrons also will (eventually) eat other types of dried seaweeds. The arent quite the browsers that the common Zebrasoma sp tangs are, they are more scrapers. Try some other kinds (available @ asian foods stores) though watch out for ones with checmials in them. Also, keep switching in new rocks for her so that she has something to tie her over with in the meantime.

I didn't tell the end- on day 3 of not eating- the person I bought it from suggested putting it in the established reef tank. While acclimating it - I put food in the water- he swam aroud all excited- but never ate the food. The next day he died, and I had a heck of a time getting him out of the rocks he was stuck in. Took him to my vet who found no intestinal obstuction or signs of parasites or bacterial infection- looked like a healthy fish! My vet is also a fish vet!

We had (actually still have) a chevron tang. It ate everything from the get go. Nori, form 1 and 2 flakes and pellets, spectrum pellets and mysis. He is not in a QT tank waiting for the new owner to pick up. We had him for 6-7 months in a 220 gallon tank where he grew from 2" to over 4". He was picking on our regel angels that were added after him so he got the boot. We soaked all of his food in garlic zoe and zoecon when he first got him in, now we only soak his food once a week or so in the addatives.

Very cool fish and gorgeous!

I now have another- for eight days. Totally diff.- eats everything!
I guess I just got stuck with a bad fish!!

I have a cheveron in a 125g reef. He eats zooplankton, mysis shrimp, brine shrimp and julian sprungs green and purple from a clip. He is now one year in my tank. I got him at 2" and now he is @ 5". Great fish. I think you got a bad fish before. Did the fish that died eat in the stores tank were you bought him or her?

I was told he did- but he looked excited when food was put in- just didn't eat it if you watched closely,
