Chevron Issues

To start off I have been treating with hyposalinity. My SG is at 1.01. I did have a problem with my pH. I found it over the weekend at 7.5 & I since have had it up to around 8 & have been adding a pH buffer to it daily. The problem is the dorsal and anal fins look very ratty. On the dorsal fin, I can see some of the bones protruding. There are white splotches on its face that look like the skin is missing. I'm not sure if it's hole in the head. I'm assuming it is from the fish stressing due to the low pH. Before I started hypo, there was a bacterial infection on this fish & I treated it with tetracycline. Before this treatment, all the fins look ratty but now the tail fin looks great. Should I just wait it out and keep the pH stable or is there something I can do to be proactive instead of just reactive? Does this sound like a bacterial thing or is it stress?

Can hlle come on quickly like in 2 days? I thought that is lateral line disease. I have to admidt it does sound possibale but does it account for the tattered fins? Ive had a hard time with this fish it's just started eating life line and I'm having a hard time gettin it to eat nori.

Try soaking your food in garlic, selcon, and vita chem or products like them that have vitamins, omega3, and other immune/health products. I have ich in my tank because everything I put a new fish in my tank and they aren't eating right away they develop ich. When they start eating with the food soaked in what I mentioned above it goes away and not seen again

That's 3 full sentences of myth-information. You have crypto because you didn't quarantine and treat your fish. No amount of garlic and selcon is going to cure you of your parasite woes, sadly.

QT before DT .... diet is the biggest thing people dont do when it comes to housing tangs .. over and over i see threads asking for help on the tangs ...n all the questions are the same .. i feed it this and that but never give it its 100% diet that to keep them healthy .. i am a tang keeper have been keeping tangs for many years ... everyone always comes over and sees the tangs i have and ask what do i do to keep them healthy ...

i feed nori 3 to 4 times a day .. not soaked in garlic .. i feed them lettuce .. spinach .. parsley or any green veggies from the produce store washed in rodi water of course ... 2 to 3 times a week ... a blend of raw oysters , shrimp , scollops n squid every other day i buy from my local fish market (( had to buy my own blender wife would not let me use the house blender )) plus that feeds my corals .. when is season and i can get them they get a treat of strawberries (( tangs love them )) .. i buy a jar of minced garlic and feed them that 2 to 3 times a week .. anything with the word chem in the name i have never trusted in my tanks ..

I agree completely. BTW, sg of 1.01 is too high for hypo. It should be 1.008-1.009. Obviously, a perfectly calibrated refractometer is essential for hypo to have any chance of working.

This. And check every night as evaporation will change your SG.
