Chevron Tang (Information Needed)

I am looking to add a juvenile Chevron Tang in the near future. Based on coloration and the health of the fish, what would be the best size to aim for? I have been offered a few of them around 3.5". My thoughts were to look for a juvenile around 2". Since I have never owned a Chevron Tang, I would appreciate any information or advice. Thanks in advance.

I think that you would be better off with the smallest you can find as they are more colourful. They tend to be a little aggressive though.

Good luck

get them as small as you can find, their coloring will maintain as a young adult,as they change to a adult their colors change......

I disagree with the posts above. From personal experience with 3 juvie chevron tangs. Do NOT get the smallest you can find, survival rate is not very good.

You can find plenty of 2" and above sized chevrons with juvie coloration that will actually survive.

They change colors no matter what you do, so if you don't enjoy their adult coloration, I suggest you find another tang.

And there are PLENTY of more aggressive tangs out there.

So in short, try for one 2" or larger. 3.5" and up usually are in the transitioning phase already..in my opinion the adult coloration is unique as beautiful as well. Good luck

I totally agree with Dooly. I have one that I got at about 3 inches and it has gotten more beautiful in the last three years. Mildly aggressive towards new fish but nothing serious.
