Chiller Analysis

Hey Everybody--

Part of my thermodynamics class this semester involves analyzing a real life system in detail and of course--I had to pick something fish tank related.


My tank is too simple to have a chiller. I was wondering, does anybody have any data showing how much of the day their chiller had to be on to keep their tank at a specified temperature? Anything offered will be appreciated.

I just setup my 1/3hp chiller on my 40gal and it runs for about 5 mins every hour or two just to drop the temp .5 degs. But i also have a 400watt MH and keep the tank between 79-79.5
